Thin Band Engagement Rings

A 1.5mm or 2mm band makes your Lab-Grown Diamond look bigger by contrast. Delicate on the hand, and built by hand in Queens so it lasts.

Drawn Before It's Made

Every thin band starts as a CAD model on my screen, with the shank tapered and reinforced where it matters, not a stock band pulled from a catalog.

Set By Hand in New York

A thin band only works if it is made properly. I keep enough gold under the head and at the base of the shank so a 1.5mm ring holds its shape for decades.

Thin Band Engagement Ring FAQ

Does a thin band make the diamond look bigger?

Yes. Your eye judges the center stone against the band next to it, so a 1.5mm or 2mm band makes the same diamond look noticeably larger than it would on a 3mm band. It is the simplest way to add visual size without adding carat weight.

Is a thin band engagement ring strong enough for daily wear?

Built properly, yes. Solid 14K gold at 1.5mm to 2mm holds up to everyday life when the shank is thick enough underneath and reinforced at the base of the head. That is where cheap thin bands fail, and it is exactly where I add metal.

1.5mm or 2mm: which band width should I choose?

1.5mm is the most delicate look and makes the stone look biggest. 2mm keeps almost the same effect with a little more strength and presence, and it is the better choice for centers above 2ct or for anyone hard on their hands.

Can a thin band engagement ring be resized?

Yes, usually by a couple of sizes, which is easy on a plain band. Pavé thin bands are more limited because the stones run along the shank. Resizing is complimentary within 60 days of delivery.

Will a thin band bend?

Real force, like a door slam or heavy lifting, can bend solid gold at any width. A well-made 1.5mm or 2mm band will not bend from normal wear. If it ever does, workmanship is covered by the lifetime warranty.

What wedding band goes with a thin band engagement ring?

A matching 1.5mm or 2mm band keeps the stack delicate and balanced. A plain band keeps it quiet; a thin pavé band adds sparkle. I make both to order, so the widths match exactly.
