What arrives in the box
Your center stone is a 1.00ct oval cut Lab-Grown Diamond measuring roughly 8mm by 5.7mm, D–F color, VS clarity or better, IGI certified — the report comes with it. Two round brilliant side stones of 3.5mm bring the pair to 0.34ct and the ring to 1.34ctw. Four-prong center, four-prong sides, on a plain 2mm shank in solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Cut to your size, 4 through 9 including halves.
Why a 1ct oval wears larger than a 1ct round
Weight is not what your eye registers — surface area is. At roughly 8mm by 5.7mm, this oval runs about a millimeter and a half longer than a 1ct round brilliant, and the shape carries that length along the finger rather than across it. With the two rounds flanking it, the setting spans close to 15mm. That is the practical reason people choose an oval at this weight: you are buying visible size instead of paying for depth you will never see.
Why your side stones are this size and not smaller
Your 3.5mm rounds sit at about 61% of the center stone's width, which is the range where side stones read as part of the design rather than as accents that got left on. Go much smaller and they disappear against the center; much larger and the ring stops being a three-stone and starts being a cluster. This is the proportion I would put on your finger first.
The bow-tie, and how I select against it
Every oval has a bow-tie — a darker band across the center where facets fail to return light. On a well-cut stone you barely notice it; on a poorly cut one it is the first thing you see. It does not appear anywhere on a lab report, which is why I check every oval face-up at the bench before it goes into a setting rather than buying to a specification sheet.
How it will sit on your hand, and with a band
The three stones run lengthwise along the finger, so the ring draws your hand out instead of widening it. The 2mm shank keeps the metal quiet and lets the stones do the work, and because the setting sits low on a plain band, a straight wedding band meets it flush without a gap. Since I make both to order, tell me and I will cut them as a pair.
