Thin Band Solitaire Engagement Ring

Thin Band Solitaire Engagement Rings

One Lab-Grown Diamond on a 1.5mm or 2mm band, and nothing else. The most minimal ring I make, and the one that makes the stone look biggest.

Drawn Before It's Made

Every thin band solitaire starts as a CAD model on my screen. With one stone on a fine band, proportion is everything, so none of it comes from a catalog.

Set By Hand in New York

A solitaire on a thin band has nowhere to hide a flaw. I shape and polish every one by hand, down to the underside of the head.

Thin Band Solitaire Engagement Ring FAQ

Why choose a thin band solitaire?

It is the purest version of the engagement ring: one stone, one fine band. The thin band makes the center look larger by contrast, and nothing competes for attention.

Prong or bezel on a thin band solitaire?

Prongs let in more light and read classic and airy. A bezel wraps the stone in a thin gold rim, protecting the edge and leaving nothing to snag. On a fine band both work; the bezel suits active hands.

Which diamond shape looks best on a thin band solitaire?

Oval, pear, and marquise stretch along the finger and look largest on a fine band. Round is the most brilliant. Emerald cut looks sleek and architectural. It comes down to the shape you love.

How big a center stone can a thin band hold?

I recommend a 1.5mm band for centers up to about 1.5ct and a 2mm band for 2ct and above, so the shank has the strength to carry the head for decades.

Will a thin solitaire band bend?

Not from normal wear. Solid 14K gold at 1.5mm to 2mm, reinforced under the head, holds its shape. Real force can bend any ring, and workmanship is covered by the lifetime warranty.

Does a wedding band sit flush against a thin band solitaire?

Yes, it is the easiest ring to pair. A matching 1.5mm or 2mm band sits flush beside it, and I make both to order so the widths match exactly.
