4mm Beveled Edge Wedding Band in Solid 14K Gold
A flat polished face with both outer edges chamfered away, cast in solid 14K gold at a 4mm width. The bevel is a small cut that does a lot of work: it breaks the hard corner where the face meets the side, so the band picks up a second and third angle of light without losing the clean flat top. It is the most structured of the plain profiles, and the easiest one to wear. Made to order in our Woodside, Queens workshop.
The Beveled Profile
The center of the band stays flat and level, and the two edges are cut back at an angle to form narrow facets running the full circumference. That gives you three surfaces where a flat band has one — a bright plateau across the top and two dimmer flanks that shift as your hand moves. The result reads as architectural rather than ornamental. There is nothing applied to the ring, nothing set into it; the whole effect comes from how the metal is cut.
How It Differs From a Knife-Edge
These two are confused more than any other pair we make. A bevel chamfers the corners and keeps the flat plateau across the top. A knife-edge removes that plateau entirely and runs both faces up to a central ridge. Choose the bevel if you want a flat surface with the sharp corners taken off — it is the more conservative of the two, and the better choice if the ring needs to read as a traditional wedding band. Choose the knife-edge if you want the band itself to have an edge.
The Fit
At 4mm this is the slimmest of the traditional men's widths, substantial enough to read clearly as a wedding band and light enough to stop noticing within a week. The interior is comfort-fit, gently domed rather than flat, so it clears the knuckle without dragging and sits without pressure points through a long day. The beveled corners help here too: with the edges cut back, there is less of a hard rim to catch on the fingers on either side.
Choosing Your Metal
Yellow gold gives the flat top its warmest read and keeps the whole band traditional. White gold sharpens the contrast between the plateau and the two beveled flanks, which makes the geometry more visible and the ring more modern. Rose gold sits between them. Each band is cast in the metal you choose, solid throughout — never plated, never gold-filled.
Made to Order in Queens
We hold no inventory. When your order arrives, this band is cast in your size and your metal, then the bevels are cut and the faces polished by hand at our bench in Woodside. Production runs two to three weeks before it ships free and fully insured. Every piece carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship and free resizing, and non-engraved bands can be returned within fourteen days.
