The Beveled Profile
The center of the band stays flat and level, and the two edges are cut back at an angle to form narrow facets running the full circumference. That gives you three surfaces where a flat band has one. On a satin finish the effect is subtler than on polish — the facets read as a shift in tone rather than a flash of light — which is precisely why this version suits men who want structure without any shine at all.
Why the Satin Matters Here
It matters more on a beveled band than on most. The flat plateau across the top is exactly the kind of uninterrupted surface where scratches show worst on a polished ring, and at 5mm that plateau is broad. Brushing it removes the problem: marks settle into the grain instead of standing against a mirror, and the band ages into itself rather than looking damaged. When you eventually want it crisp again, a few minutes at the bench restores it.
Polished or Satin
We make this same bevel with a mirror-polished face. The 5mm Beveled Edge Wedding Band at $1,065 gives you maximum brightness and the more traditional, dressier read. Choose it if you want the ring to catch the eye. Choose this one if you work with your hands and want to forget the ring is there.
How It Differs From a Knife-Edge
These two are confused more than any other pair we make. A bevel chamfers the corners and keeps the flat plateau across the top. A knife-edge removes that plateau entirely and runs both faces up to a central ridge. Choose the bevel if you want a flat surface with the sharp corners taken off — it is the more conservative of the two, and the better choice if the ring needs to read as a traditional wedding band. Choose the knife-edge if you want the band itself to have an edge.
Why 5mm
A bevel needs width to work. On a narrow band the two chamfers eat most of the face and the flat plateau nearly disappears; at 5mm the proportions come right — a broad center with two clean facets framing it, all three clearly separated. Fit and Comfort
The interior is comfort-fit, gently domed rather than flat, so it clears the knuckle without dragging and sits without pressure points through a long day. The beveled corners help here too: with the edges cut back, there is less of a hard rim to catch on the fingers on either side — which matters more at 5mm than at narrower widths.
Choosing Your Metal
Yellow gold gives the brushed face its warmest, most traditional read. White gold turns the same finish cool and industrial — closest to brushed steel in feel, solid gold in substance, and the sharpest version of this design. Rose gold sits between them with a soft warmth. Each band is cast in the metal you choose, solid throughout — never plated, never gold-filled.

We hold no inventory. When your order arrives, this band is cast in your size and your metal, then the bevels are cut and the face brushed by hand at our bench in Woodside. Production runs two to three weeks before it ships free and fully insured. Every piece carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship and free resizing, and non-engraved bands can be returned within fourteen days.
