Steinway 5mm Flat Wedding Band in Solid 14K Gold
A flat polished face with straight sides and no ornament of any kind, cast in solid 14K gold at a 5mm width. Five millimeters is the width most men land on when they want the ring to be unmistakably there — substantial on the hand, still comfortable through a workday. Named for the avenue that runs through Astoria, a few blocks from where it is made. Handcrafted to order in our Woodside, Queens workshop.
The Flat Profile
The face sits level from edge to edge and the sides drop straight, so the ring reads as a clean band of metal rather than a curve. Because the full 5mm faces outward, a flat band looks wider on the hand than a domed band of the same measurement — presence without adding millimeters. The flat interior surface also takes engraving better than any other profile, which matters if a date or a name is going inside.
Why 5mm
Four millimeters reads as understated and eventually disappears into daily wear. Six starts to make a statement. Five sits between them: wide enough to be noticed across a table, narrow enough that a man who has never worn a ring stops feeling it within a week. If you are unsure, our guide to 4mm vs 5mm vs 6mm wedding bands works through the decision properly.
Polished, and What That Means Over Time
The mirror finish is the brightest surface gold takes, and it is also the most honest about wear. A polished flat face is one uninterrupted plane, so fine scratches show more readily here than on a textured or brushed band. Most men come to like that — the marks become a record of the years, and a few minutes at the bench restores the shine whenever you want it back. If you would rather they never showed at all, we make this same profile with a brushed face as the 5mm Flat Satin Wedding Band.
Fit and Comfort
Flat bands have a reputation for feeling rigid, and that comes down to the interior rather than the exterior. Ours is comfort-fit — the inside is gently domed so it rides over the knuckle and sits without a hard edge pressing into the finger. At 5mm the band carries real weight in the hand without ever feeling like something you have to work around.
Choosing Your Metal
Yellow gold is the traditional choice and the warmest. White gold reads cooler and more modern, and shows the mirror finish most sharply. Rose gold sits between them. Each band is cast in the metal you choose, solid throughout — never plated, never gold-filled.
Made to Order in Queens
We hold no inventory. When your order arrives, this band is cast in your size and your metal, then squared and polished by hand at our bench in Woodside. Production runs two to three weeks before it ships free and fully insured. Every piece carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship and free resizing, and non-engraved bands can be returned within fourteen days.
A Width or Finish We Don't List
If you want this flat profile narrower, wider, or as a slimmer matching band for a partner, write to me. I cut these one at a time — the width is a decision, not a limitation. Call or text 929-806-1502, or email info@blackpearlofqueens.com.
