An ancient metal, made modern
Electrum is gold and silver found mixed together in nature. Around the 7th and 6th centuries BC, ancient Lydia and the Greek cities of Ionia, Samos among them, struck it into some of the first coins in history.
I was born in Vathy, on Samos, and my father’s town was Pythagoreio. Just outside it stands the Heraion, the sanctuary of Hera, goddess of marriage. Many of our Modern Electrum™ designs carry the names of the places and people of Samos.
What Modern Electrum™ is
Modern Electrum™ is a contemporary alloy developed by Legor in Italy: about 91% silver, 2% gold and 1.2% palladium, for 94% precious metals in total. It is hallmarked as 800 silver.
Plainly put: Modern Electrum™ is a silver alloy, not gold. It contains a small amount of gold, and we never describe or sell it as gold.
Caring for it
Wipe it with a soft cloth to keep it bright. Take it off before swimming in chlorinated water or using cleaning products, and store it in its pouch when you’re not wearing it. Every piece carries our lifetime warranty on craftsmanship.
Questions
Is Modern Electrum™ gold?
No. It contains a small amount of gold, but it is a silver alloy, hallmarked as 800 silver.
Can I wear it every day, or as a wedding band?
Yes. It is up to twice as hard as sterling silver and resists tarnish, so it is made for daily wear, as a wedding band or an everyday ring.
Will it scratch or tarnish?
It resists both far better than sterling silver. Like any metal it can show light wear over time, and a quick polish brings it back.
Can I get it with diamonds or gemstones?
Yes. Many designs come with Lab-Grown Diamonds, and can also be made with Lab-Created gemstones.
Can it be resized?
Yes. Resizing is complimentary within 60 days of delivery.
