Men's Grooved Wedding Band – 6mm Sandblasted & Brushed 14K Gold
Three finishes, one band. A sandblasted channel runs around the center of your ring, framed by two brushed rails and cut off from them by fine grooves, with polished beveled edges catching the light at either side. Up close it reads as texture; across a room it reads as a single, quiet line of gold. Six millimeters wide, solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold, milled from solid tube on my bench in Woodside, Queens.
What does a sandblasted center actually look like?
Sandblasting gives your band a fine, frosted surface, soft and almost velvety, with no direction to it. Brushing is the opposite: a satin finish laid down in one direction, so it carries faint lines that follow the curve of the ring. Putting the two side by side is what makes this band work. The frosted center looks a shade deeper and warmer than the brushed rails beside it, and the two grooves draw a crisp border between them, so your ring has depth even though every surface is matte. The polished bevels at the edges are the only bright metal on the ring, and they are what frame the whole design when your hand moves.
How wide and thick is it?
Your band is 6mm wide and about 1.6mm thick, with a flat top, beveled edges and a comfort-fit interior. The inside is gently domed rather than flat, so it slides over the knuckle more easily and doesn't press a hard edge into your finger. Six millimeters is the most popular width for men's wedding bands for a reason: it has enough presence to look like a real ring on a larger hand without crowding the knuckle. At 1.6mm the profile sits close to your finger, so it fits under a glove or a shirt cuff without catching, and it stays comfortable through a full day of work. It is solid 14K gold all the way through, never hollow, never plated.
Why milled instead of cast?
Most gold bands are cast: molten gold poured into a mold. Casting is versatile, but it can leave tiny pores inside the metal that show up later as pits in a brushed or polished surface. Your band starts instead as a solid tube of extruded 14K gold, metal that has already been compressed and worked into shape, and I mill the profile, the grooves and the bevels out of it. The result is denser gold with no porosity, which matters on a band like this: the grooves come out razor-clean, the bevels hold a crisp line, and the brushed and sandblasted finishes lie evenly across metal with nothing hiding underneath.
Will the finish wear off?
Matte finishes soften with wear, and that is honest to say up front. Over months the brushed rails pick up their own fine marks and the sandblasted center slowly smooths at its highest points. Many men like their band more once it has a little life on it. When you want it back to day one, bring it or send it to me and I will refinish the sandblast and the brushing by hand. The grooves and bevels are cut into the metal itself, so the structure of the design never wears away.
Yellow, white or rose gold?
Yellow gold gives the sandblasted center its warmest, most antique look, close to old coin gold. White gold turns the same design cool and architectural, with the frosted channel reading almost like brushed steel next to the bright bevels. Rose gold sits between the two and pairs especially well with a rose or yellow engagement ring. All three are solid 14K and priced the same, so choose by eye and by what she wears.
Will it match her ring?
A textured men's band does not need to copy her ring to belong with it. What ties a pair together is the metal color and the finish quality, and since I make both to order, I can match the gold exactly and brush or polish hers to complement yours. If you would rather keep his simpler, the 6mm brushed band is the same width with one finish, and the 6mm beveled edge band keeps the bevels in high polish.

Who makes it?
I do. I started in 2016 at a family wedding band workshop in Long Island City, and bands are still the heart of what I make. Your ring is milled from solid tube, then textured and finished by hand after you order it, in my workshop in Woodside, Queens.
