Nothing between you and the step cut

An emerald cut is not cut for sparkle. It is cut for flash. Its long, parallel facets work like a hall of mirrors, opening and closing broad planes of light as your hand moves. That effect is subtle, and anything busy on the band competes with it. A plain band leaves the stone's clarity and geometry to speak for themselves.

Clean lines, soft band

The rectangle of the stone sits against the rounded profile of the 2mm dome, and that contrast makes both read sharper. The stone looks more precise because the band is soft, and the band looks more refined because the stone is so exact.

Why the prongs sit on the corners

An emerald cut's corners are trimmed at an angle for a reason: a sharp corner is the most likely place for any diamond to chip. The four prongs sit over those trimmed corners, protecting the most exposed points while leaving the long sides open to light.
