An emerald cut Lab-Grown Diamond, IGI certified, above a 2mm low-dome band set with round pavé. Two different cuts, two different kinds of light, one ring. Choose 1.5, 2, or 2.5 carats in 14K yellow, white, or rose gold or platinum, made to order in my Queens workshop.

Flash meets sparkle

The emerald cut gives slow, broad flashes. The round pavé, twenty-eight diamonds at 0.24 carats in total, gives quick, bright pinpoints. Side by side, each makes the other more obvious. The step cut looks calmer and more architectural against the busy sparkle of the band, and the pavé looks brighter against the stone's glassy stillness.

Slim band, big stone

A 2 carat emerald cut measures about 8 by 6mm. The 2mm band keeps the focus on that rectangle, while its rounded dome gives the shank more depth than a flat band of the same width, and the pavé carries the stone's light down onto the finger.
