Art Deco, on purpose

The emerald cut and the milgrain edge came of age together. Jewelers of the 1920s loved step-cut stones for their clean geometry and finished almost every band with beaded edges, and the pairing still reads as Art Deco at a glance. This ring puts the two together deliberately, on a low-dome band that keeps the look wearable today.

A frame around a mirror

An emerald cut behaves like a mirror, its long parallel facets reflecting broad planes of light. The milgrain edge frames that mirror. Its row of tiny beads echoes the stone's stepped facets in miniature, so the band and the center stone feel designed as one piece rather than assembled from parts.

Built for everyday wear

Twenty-eight pavé diamonds, 0.24 carats in total, sit in seats cut down into the 2mm dome, the milgrain runs along the edges rather than the top, and four prongs protect the emerald cut's trimmed corners. It wears as comfortably as a plain band. Over the years the beads soften slightly, and at the bench I can re-cut them to crisp.
