The 6mm Lattice Wedding Band, Edged in Lab-Grown Diamonds
Most men's wedding bands are a solid strip of metal. This one is built like architecture. Crisscrossing strands of solid 14K gold form an open lattice, framed top and bottom by a continuous row of round Lab-Grown Diamonds, 0.40ct total. Light passes straight through the center, the gold flashes at every crossing, and the Lab-Grown Diamond edges outline the whole band like a frame. Six millimeters of presence that still wears light. Handmade to order at the bench in Woodside, Queens, sized to fit, never pulled from a drawer.
What makes a lattice band different from a basket weave or braided ring?
A braided or basket weave band is a closed surface, with strands pressed tight against each other. A lattice is open: each gold strand crosses the next with air between them, so light moves through the ring instead of only bouncing off it. That openness is why a 6mm lattice reads lighter on the hand than a solid 6mm band. Two solid rails at the edges hold the structure square and give the Lab-Grown Diamonds a straight, continuous line to sit on. For the closed weave in plain gold, see the Basket Weave Wedding Band.
How are the Lab-Grown Diamonds set, and will they hold?
Each edge carries a single row of round Lab-Grown Diamonds in a shared-prong setting, where every small prong grips two neighboring stones at once. That puts the maximum amount of stone and the minimum amount of metal on the surface, which is why each row reads as one unbroken line of light. Every prong is checked under magnification before the band leaves the bench. Desk work, driving and everyday wear are no concern. Like any band with stones along its edges, it should come off for heavy lifting, climbing or work with tools.
What are the exact specs?
6mm wide, flat profile, high-polish finish, in solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold. The open, hand-finished lattice runs the full circumference of the band, inside and out. Two rows of round Lab-Grown Diamonds line both edges: 0.40 carat total weight, VS clarity, near-colorless to colorless. Available in US sizes 7 through 13, with platinum on request. Stones under one carat ship uncertified; every Lab-Grown Diamond is hand-selected before setting.
Is an open lattice band comfortable to wear every day?
More than a solid band of the same width. Air reaches the skin through the lattice, so a 6mm band doesn't trap heat or moisture. Every strand is rounded and polished inside and out, with no sharp edges to press or catch against the finger. Soap and lotion will settle into the crossings over time; a soak in warm water with a drop of dish soap and a soft toothbrush restores the gold and the stones in two minutes.
Is a Lab-Grown Diamond a real diamond?
Yes. A Lab-Grown Diamond is crystallized carbon with the same hardness, the same fire and the same chemistry as a mined diamond, grown above ground instead of dug out of it. On a band like this, lab-grown means the budget goes into solid 14K gold and hand-finished lattice work instead of a mined-stone premium.
Is 6mm too wide for a men's wedding band?
6mm is a confident men's width: it fills the space between the knuckles without feeling like hardware, and the open lattice keeps it from looking heavy. On sizes 9 and up it reads balanced; on slimmer fingers it reads bold, which is exactly what this design is for. Want the same double row of Lab-Grown Diamonds on a solid band?
