Product Description

Emerald Cut Five-Stone Engagement Ring — 1ct Lab-Grown Diamond in 14K Gold

A 1ct emerald cut Lab-Grown Diamond center, D–F color and VS+ clarity, IGI certified, with four round brilliants — two on each side, graduating in size away from the middle — for 1.35ctw across the five stones. On a 2mm band in solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Made to order in 7 to 10 business days on my bench in Woodside, Queens.

Is this a five-stone ring or a solitaire with side stones?

Both descriptions are fair, so here is exactly what it is. Five stones in total: one emerald cut center and four round brilliants. A traditional five-stone ring sets all five at similar size in a straight row, usually the same shape, and often reads as an anniversary band. This one is center-dominant — the emerald cut carries the ring and the four rounds step down away from it. If you came looking for a row of matched stones, this is not that. If you want a solitaire with more across the finger and no halo, this is exactly that.

Why do the side stones graduate?

Four identical stones either side would read as a row and flatten the composition. Stepping them down in size away from the center pulls your eye inward toward the emerald cut and makes the transition from center stone to band feel continuous rather than abrupt. It is the same principle as a graduated necklace at a much smaller scale, and it is the difference between a designed ring and four accents stuck on the shoulders.

How much finger does it cover?

The emerald cut runs roughly 7mm long by 5mm wide, and with the four rounds flanking it the setting spans close to 13mm across. That is meaningfully wider than a 1ct emerald cut solitaire on its own, without the added width of a halo and without the visual busyness that comes with one. You get presence from the layout rather than from more carat weight in the center.

What color and clarity are the diamonds?

D through F, the colorless range, and VS+ clarity, which is eye-clean at any angle. Both grades matter more on this shape than on any other. Step-cut facets are windows rather than mirrors, so the open table shows body color and shows inclusions — a G or H that would pass unnoticed in a round brilliant reads faintly warm in an emerald cut, especially against white gold or platinum. Staying in D–F is what keeps the table clean, and it applies to the side stones as well: four accents a shade warmer than the center is the fastest way to make a good center stone look worse than it is. The IGI report ships with the ring.

What does an emerald cut ask of you?

Step-cut facets show what is inside the stone in a way a brilliant cut never does. That is both the appeal and the demand — the shape rewards a good stone and exposes a mediocre one. It is why I select emerald cuts for clarity ahead of everything else and check them face-up at the bench rather than buying to a report alone.

Are the corners fragile?

No. An emerald cut's corners are beveled rather than pointed, which makes it one of the most durable shapes to wear daily. Four prongs hold the center at the corners and each side stone is individually prong-set rather than bead-set, so nothing relies on a shared bead holding two stones at once.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?

Close, with a small gap where the outer side stones sit proud of the shank. A gently contoured band closes it completely, and since I make both to order I will cut the pair together if you tell me at the time of order.

Is the gold solid, or plated?

Solid 14K throughout — not plated over brass, not gold-filled. Platinum is available. White gold is rhodium-finished the way every white gold ring is, and I re-finish yours whenever it needs it. Nickel-free in all colors. Engraving inside the band on request.

How long does it take, and can it be resized?

Made to order in 7 to 10 business days, sizes 4 through 9 including halves. Resizing is complimentary within 60 days of delivery, craftsmanship carries a lifetime warranty, and you have 14 days to return it if it is not right and you have not had it engraved. It ships fully insured in our signature suede pouch with the IGI report.

What if I want the same stone without side stones?

The 1ct emerald cut solitaire is the plain version. There is also an emerald cut with a hidden halo, an emerald cut on a French pavé band, and an emerald cut in a full bezel. Anything not on the site, I build custom — that is most of what I do.

Who makes it?

I do. One bench, one pair of hands, in a workshop in Woodside, Queens. Five stones in a line means five chances for something to sit a fraction out of true, and on a step cut there is no faceting to hide it. Nothing here sits in a case waiting for a buyer. Yours is cast, set and finished after you order it.
