Why a bezel suits a pear

The tip is the fragile part of a pear and the part most likely to chip. A bezel covers it completely, which is the most protective option there is for this shape — and unlike a V-prong it does it without adding anything on top of the stone. The elongated outline also does more for the finger than a round of the same weight.

Setting notes

Pear cuts are not uniform. The curve on each side and the angle into the point vary stone to stone, so the bezel has to be fitted to the individual diamond rather than made to a pattern. A machine-set bezel will never sit true on a pear, which is why this one is formed by hand around the stone it will hold.
