Pink Tourmaline Heart Promise Ring in Solid 14K Gold
A promise ring should say exactly what it means without a word of explanation. This one does: a soft pink heart of Lab-Created Pink Tourmaline, held in three prongs and wrapped in a halo of Lab-Grown Diamonds from lobe to point, on a smooth 2.5mm band of solid 14K gold. Real gold, real diamonds, made by hand in my Woodside, Queens workshop to be worn for years, not a season.
What makes a good promise ring?
A promise ring marks a commitment before, or instead of, an engagement, so it has to feel serious without looking like an engagement ring. That means three things: a design that carries meaning on its own, materials that will not tarnish or wear through, and a size that can be worn every day. A heart says the meaning outright, solid 14K gold lasts a lifetime, and a 2.5mm band with a low halo sits comfortably on the finger from morning to night.
Why a pink tourmaline heart?
Pink is the color of tenderness rather than drama, which is exactly the tone a promise carries: affection, devotion and a future still being written. A clear white diamond can read as an engagement ring; a pink heart reads unmistakably as a promise. Pink tourmaline is also the modern October birthstone, so for anyone born in October the ring carries a second, personal meaning.
What does a promise ring mean?
A promise ring can stand for a commitment to a future engagement, to exclusivity, or simply to each other through distance, school or a season apart. Some couples exchange them years before they marry; others give one as a pledge that stands on its own. Whatever the promise, the ring is the physical reminder of it, which is why it should be built from materials that last as long as the words.
Which finger is a promise ring worn on?
Most people wear a promise ring on the ring finger of the left hand, then move it to the right hand once an engagement ring arrives. Others wear it on the right ring finger from the start to keep the left free. Both are correct; there is no rule beyond what the two people agree on.
Can it be worn with an engagement ring later?
Yes. The slim 2.5mm band and low-profile halo make it easy to move to the right hand or to wear alongside a future engagement ring and wedding band. Many people keep wearing their promise ring for decades as a reminder of where it started.
What does the diamond halo add?
The halo is a continuous border of round Lab-Grown Diamonds, each in its own beaded setting, tracing the heart from its two rounded lobes down to the point. White diamonds frame the pink so it looks larger and more saturated, and the halo protects the heart's edges and delicate point from everyday knocks.
Is Lab-Created Pink Tourmaline real tourmaline?
Lab-Created Pink Tourmaline is grown in a controlled lab to match the color and brilliance of mined pink tourmaline, giving an even, clean pink without the color zoning and inclusions common in mined stones at this price. The FTC asks jewelers to call laboratory-made colored gemstones "Lab-Created" and laboratory-made diamonds "Lab-Grown," which is why both terms appear on this ring.
Can a pink tourmaline ring be worn every day?
Tourmaline rates 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, hard enough for regular wear when it is set well, and this one sits inside a protective diamond halo with a prong guarding the point. Take it off for the gym, gardening and harsh cleaners, and clean it at home with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft toothbrush.
Which gold color should I choose?
Rose gold is the most natural partner for pink tourmaline, the metal and stone blending into one warm, romantic tone, and it is the most popular choice for a promise ring. Yellow gold gives the pink a sunny, vintage warmth. White gold makes the halo almost disappear so the pink heart seems to float in light. Every option is solid 14K gold all the way through, never plated.
What quality are the diamonds in the halo?
The halo diamonds are round Lab-Grown Diamonds, D–F color and VS clarity, so they face up crisp white against the pink in any metal. Because the total diamond weight is under one carat, they arrive uncertified.
Prefer a different stone?
The same heart halo is made in four center stones. For deep violet, see the heart-shaped amethyst halo ring. For classic red, the heart-shaped ruby halo ring. For all-white sparkle, the heart-shaped Lab-Grown Diamond halo ring.
