Product Description

1 Carat Round Lab-Grown Diamond Solitaire Engagement Ring in 14K Gold

A 1ct round brilliant Lab-Grown Diamond, D–F color, VS+ clarity, IGI certified, held in a four-prong head on a solid 14K gold band. Yellow, white or rose gold, cut to your finger and shipped in 7 to 10 business days from my bench in Woodside, Queens. Below is every question people ask me before they buy a 1 carat solitaire, answered straight.

How big is a 1 carat round diamond on the hand?

A 1 carat round brilliant measures about 6.5mm across the top — roughly the width of the eraser on a pencil — and covers close to 40% of the finger's width at a size 6. That is the worldwide average size for an engagement ring center stone, which is exactly why it reads as a real engagement ring to anyone who sees it rather than as a starter stone. On a size 4 or 5 finger it looks substantial. On a size 8 it looks classic rather than large.

Does a 1ct lab-grown diamond look smaller than a natural one?

No. A 1.00ct round Lab-Grown Diamond faces up at the same 6.5mm as a 1.00ct natural round, because carat is weight and the cutting proportions are the same either way. Nobody looking at your hand can tell the difference, and neither can a jeweler without equipment. The only thing that changes is what you paid.

What do D–F color and VS+ clarity actually get you?

D through F is the colorless range — the top three grades there are — so the stone stays white instead of going faintly yellow where it meets a gold band. VS+ means eye-clean: nothing you can find without magnification, from any angle, in any light. Plenty of 1 carat solitaires in this range sit at F color with SI clarity, and SI is the grade where inclusions become findable if you know where to look. This one does not ask you to accept that trade. The IGI report ships with the ring so you are not taking my word for any of it.

Why four prongs instead of six?

Four prongs cover less of the stone's edge than six, so a 6.5mm round shows at its full width instead of being nibbled at four extra points. At 1 carat the stone is light enough that four prongs hold it securely — the reinforced heads and six-prong settings start earning their keep past a carat and a half. The head also sits low in a compact basket, close to the finger, so the ring does not rock on your hand or catch a sweater sleeve.

Is the gold solid, or plated?

Solid 14K throughout — not plated over brass, not gold-filled, not gold over silver. White gold is rhodium-finished the way every white gold ring is, and I re-finish yours whenever it needs it rather than telling you the color was always going to wear off. Nickel-free in all three colors.

Will a wedding band sit flush against it?

Yes. The shank tapers slightly as it reaches the head and the basket sits low, so a straight band lies against the setting without a visible gap. Since both are made to order, tell me now and I will cut the pair together so they meet exactly.

What is included?

The 1ct Lab-Grown Diamond, the solid 14K gold, the labor, the IGI report, fully insured shipping and our signature suede pouch. There is no separate setting fee and no upcharge for white or rose gold. A comparable 1 carat round solitaire at a mall chain typically costs more for a stone graded lower on color, clarity or both, largely because you are also paying for the storefront it sat in.

How long does it take, and can it be resized?

Made to order in 7 to 10 business days, in sizes 4 through 9 including half sizes. Resizing is complimentary within 60 days of delivery, the craftsmanship carries a lifetime warranty, and you have 14 days to return it if it is not right and you have not had it engraved.

What if I want a different carat weight or setting?

The same solitaire runs through the catalog at 1.5ct on a classic band, on a 1.5mm ultra-thin band, and with the stone fully bezel-set. If you want something that is not on the site, I build custom — that is most of what I do.

Who makes it?

I do. One bench, one pair of hands, in a workshop in Woodside, Queens. Nothing here sits in a case waiting for a buyer — yours is cast, set and finished after you order it, cut to your finger rather than sized down to it. If something is wrong with it, you are talking to the person who made it, not a call center.
