Oval Scalloped Halo Engagement Ring, 1ct Lab-Grown Diamond with Milgrain Halo, 1.5ctw in 14K Gold
A 1 carat oval Lab-Grown Diamond inside a scalloped halo of twelve round Lab-Grown Diamonds. Each halo stone sits in its own milgrain-beaded cup, so the outline curls around the center like the edge of a petal instead of running as one flat rim. It looks like a 1920s heirloom, sized up and built to modern specs: 1.5 carats total, set low to the finger, smooth enough not to catch on knit or hair. Designed in CAD and hand-set to order by Dimitrios Koukoulis at the bench in Woodside, Queens.
What is a scalloped milgrain halo?
Milgrain is a row of tiny gold beads pressed along a metal edge, the signature finish of Edwardian and Art Deco jewelry. On this ring, every one of the twelve halo stones gets its own beaded frame, and the frames overlap into a wavy, scalloped border. The result has more texture and more depth than a standard pavé halo. Light picks out the beads as well as the stones, so the whole head sparkles in two layers: white flashes from the Lab-Grown Diamonds, and a fine gold shimmer from the milgrain around them.
Why are the halo stones different sizes?
The halo is graduated on purpose. The largest stones sit at the widest point of the oval, at the north and south tips and across the middle, with smaller stones filling the curves between them. That rhythm pushes the outline into a soft cloud shape that flatters the oval rather than just tracing it. From across a room the ring reads as one bloom of light about 13 millimeters long, which is why a 1 carat center here wears with the presence of a far larger stone.
Is a low-set halo engagement ring better for everyday wear?
For most people, yes. This head is engineered to sit low. The halo rests close to the band on a sculpted, scalloped gallery that echoes the outline from below, so the ring stands far lower than a typical cathedral halo. A low profile means less leverage on the prongs when a hand hits a door frame, an easier fit under gloves and sleeves, and a ring that slides into a pocket without snagging. The milgrain is finished smooth and the four claw prongs are rounded and tucked, so the setting is snag-free against sweaters, hair and bedding.
How is the 1ct oval center held?
Four tapered claw prongs hold the oval at its corners, where an oval cut is strongest, and leave the long sides open so the stone shows its full outline. Claws are modeled in CAD, cast in solid 14K gold, then shaped and polished by hand at the bench. Every halo stone is set and checked individually under magnification. Nothing is glued and nothing is plated over base metal.
What are the exact stone specs?
The center is a 1.00 carat oval Lab-Grown Diamond, D to F color and VS clarity or better, IGI certified and shipped with its grading report. It measures approximately 7.7 by 5.7 millimeters face-up. The scalloped halo adds twelve round brilliant Lab-Grown Diamonds of about 0.50 carats total in the same color range, for a total weight of about 1.5 carats. The finished head spans approximately 13 by 11 millimeters on the finger, set on a polished 14K gold band about 2.5 millimeters wide.
Will a wedding band sit flush next to it?
The low setting makes pairing easier than with most halo rings. A straight band sits close beside it, and a band contoured to the scalloped outline can be made on request for a seamless bridal set. A plain milgrain-edged band is the classic vintage match.
Yellow, white or rose gold for a vintage oval halo?
14K yellow gold is the most period-true choice, with the milgrain reading as warm gold lace around each stone. 14K white gold blends halo and center into one cool, bright cluster. 14K rose gold softens the scallops into something romantic and slightly antique. Platinum is available on request.
Who is the oval scalloped halo for?
It is built for the buyer who wants an engagement ring with character, something that looks inherited rather than off the rack, without giving up modern security and comfort. Prefer a cleaner modern frame? The 1ct Oval Halo Engagement Ring on a thin band keeps the halo minimal. Is a Lab-Grown Diamond real?
Yes. A Lab-Grown Diamond is crystallized carbon with the same chemical, physical and optical properties as a mined one: same hardness, same fire, graded on the same scale by IGI. The difference is the math. A 1 carat D to F, VS center in a hand-set 14K gold milgrain halo costs a fraction of the same look at a traditional mall jeweler.
How long does it take, and what arrives?
Every ring is made to order, built for one finger instead of pulled from a stock drawer, and ships in 7 to 10 business days. It arrives in a pouch with the IGI report for the center stone, and resizing is complimentary within 60 days of delivery.
