The Virel Baguette Diamond Half Eternity Band is the most refined diamond band in our collection — a slim solid 14K gold band set across the top half of its circumference with horizontal baguette-cut lab-grown diamonds, each one bar-set between clean gold rails that run perpendicular to the band. The horizontal orientation of the baguettes is the defining design decision: where most baguette bands set their stones vertically — perpendicular to the finger — the Virel Half Eternity sets each stone parallel to the finger, creating a band that reads as a continuous ribbon of rectangular light across the top of the hand. The step-cut facets of the baguette produce long, mirror-like flashes that move with the hand, giving the band a cool, architectural brilliance that is entirely distinct from the scattered sparkle of a round brilliant band.
The horizontal orientation of the baguette stones in the Virel Half Eternity is what makes it unmistakable. A vertically set baguette band reads as a series of individual stones — each one a separate element, separated by visible gold rails. A horizontally set baguette band reads as a continuous ribbon of light — the long axis of each stone running parallel to the finger, the stones appearing to flow into each other across the face of the band. The bar setting reinforces this effect: the gold rails run perpendicular to the stones, framing each baguette between two vertical lines of gold that create a clean, grid-like pattern across the face of the ring. The half eternity setting — diamonds across the top half of the band, plain gold shank at the base — is the most practical and comfortable diamond band setting for daily wear. A full eternity band is beautiful, but it cannot be resized and can be uncomfortable at the base of the finger where the stones press against adjacent fingers. The half eternity setting solves both problems: the plain gold shank allows for resizing, and the smooth interior is completely comfortable against adjacent fingers. In our Queens atelier, the Virel Half Eternity was designed as the answer to a question we kept hearing: is there a baguette band that doesn't look like every other baguette band? The horizontal orientation was the answer. By rotating the stones 90 degrees — setting them parallel to the finger rather than perpendicular — the Virel Half Eternity creates a band that is immediately recognizable as something different: a continuous ribbon of rectangular light that flows across the top of the hand rather than a series of individual stones marching around the finger.
