Pear Solitaire Ultra Thin Band Engagement Ring

A pear-shaped Lab-Grown Diamond held by three prongs above a 1.5mm plain band. On a shank this slim the point appears to float — there is barely any visible support, which is the whole effect.

What you are getting

A 0.33ct pear cut Lab-Grown Diamond, D–F colour and VS clarity, three-prong set on a 1.5mm ultra-thin plain band. Solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Stones under one carat are not sold with a lab report, so this one arrives uncertified — I select it face-up at the bench instead.

The point, and how it is held

The tip is the fragile part of a pear and the first thing to chip. The third prong here is a V-prong capping that point rather than a plain claw beside it, which is the difference between a pear that survives daily wear and one that comes back to the bench. Worn with the point toward the fingertip it gives the most elongation of any shape.

The trade-off on a 1.5mm shank

Less metal means less resistance to bending over years of hard wear — true of every thin band, mine included. I do not go below 1.5mm because past that the structure stops being reliable.
