The Double-Row Pavé

The double-row pavé construction of the Verdant Eternity is among the most labor-intensive settings we use — each emerald is individually set by hand, its girdle held by four tiny gold beads shared with the adjacent stones, its table flush with the surface of the band. The two rows run parallel to each other across the 5mm face of the band, the stones in each row offset from the stones in the adjacent row so that the grid reads as a continuous, interlocking field of vivid green rather than two separate lines. The result is a band face that appears to be made entirely of emerald: no gold visible between the stones, no gaps in the coverage, just a continuous, unbroken field of vivid green that wraps completely around the finger.

The Step Edge

The raised step edges that frame the emerald field on both sides of the Verdant Eternity serve two functions: aesthetic and protective. Aesthetically, the step edges create a clean architectural border that separates the vivid green emerald field from the polished gold shank, giving the band a finished, precise profile. Protectively, the raised edges extend slightly above the surface of the outermost emerald row, creating a physical barrier that prevents the outer stones from contacting hard surfaces during everyday wear. The step edges are polished to a high mirror finish that contrasts with the matte, light-absorbing surface of the emerald field — a play of reflective gold and vivid green that is most striking in direct light. In yellow gold, the warm metal deepens the green of the emeralds into something botanical and rich. In white gold, the cool metal makes the emeralds appear more saturated and more vivid. In rose gold, the warm blush metal gives the green stones a romantic, garden-party quality.
