A round brilliant Lab-Grown Diamond ringed by a halo, with pavé running down the shank. This is the maximum-light version of a solitaire — the halo makes the centre stone read larger, and the pavé keeps the sparkle going past the setting instead of stopping at it.

What you are getting

A round brilliant Lab-Grown Diamond centre, a halo of brilliant-cut Lab-Grown Diamonds, and a pavé-set 2mm band. Solid 14K yellow, white or rose gold, or platinum. Lab-Grown Diamonds of one carat and above are certified by IGI and arrive with the report; smaller accent stones are not individually certified.

What a halo actually does

It borrows size. A halo adds visual diameter, so a centre stone reads noticeably larger than the same stone set alone. It also protects the girdle, since the surrounding stones and metal take knocks before the centre does. The trade-off is upkeep — more stones means more places for grime to collect, and a halo wants cleaning more often than a plain solitaire.

Setting notes

Pavé lives or dies on bead work. The beads holding each stone have to be even in size and evenly spaced, or the band reads lumpy under raking light. I set the halo first and work the shank outward so the transition from halo to band stays continuous.
