A 1.5ct Marquise Lab-Grown Diamond on a Twisted Pavé Band
Two strands of solid 14K gold cross over each other on the way up to the center, one polished smooth and one set with a line of pavé Lab-Grown Diamonds. Where they meet sits a 1.5ct marquise, held north-south in six prongs and lifted over a hidden row of diamonds that only shows from the side. It's an engagement ring with movement in it: the band turns, the light follows it, and the long marquise ties it all together. I build each one to order at my bench in Woodside, Queens.
What makes a twist engagement ring different from a straight pavé band?
A straight pavé band reads as one even line of sparkle. A twisted band has two strands that wrap over each other, so the ring catches light at different angles as the hand moves, and the marquise looks like it grows out of the band instead of sitting on top of it. If you want the clean version, the 1.5ct Marquise Hidden Halo Pavé Band uses the same center on a straight pavé shank.
How big does a 1.5ct marquise look on the hand?
Larger than most shapes at the same weight. A marquise is long and narrow, so 1.5 carats spreads across more of the finger than a 1.5ct round, and set north-south it lengthens the hand. For less length, the 1.5ct Marquise Solitaire keeps the same stone on a plain band. For more presence, the 2ct version is the next step up.
Why six prongs on a marquise?
The two points are the most delicate part of a marquise. Each point gets its own prong to cover and protect the tip, and the remaining four hold the sides, so the stone is locked in from end to end. It's the setting I trust on a stone meant to be worn every day.
What is the hidden halo under the center stone?
Below the marquise, a row of small Lab-Grown Diamonds wraps the gallery. From the top you see only the center stone and the twist. From the side, or when she looks down at her hand, there's a second line of sparkle that most people don't notice until they're close.
What quality is the center diamond?
The center is a 1.5ct marquise Lab-Grown Diamond in D–F color and VS clarity, with an IGI report. Lab-Grown Diamonds are real diamonds, chemically and optically the same as mined, and they let me put a 1.5ct center on a solid gold ring without a mined-diamond price.
Which gold color should I choose?
Yellow gold warms the marquise and makes the twist stand out. White gold gives a cool, all-white look where the pavé and the center blend together. Rose gold is the softest of the three and is the most romantic on the hand. All three are solid 14K gold, with the same stones and the same build.
Will it sit flush with a wedding band?
The basket is lifted so the twist and the head have their own shape, which means a straight band will leave a small gap. A curved or contoured band, or a slim pavé band, sits cleanly beside it. If you want a matched set, I can design a band to follow the twist. The Marquise Lab-Grown Diamond Wedding Band is a good place to start.
How long does it take, and what if the size is wrong?
Every ring is made to order in solid 14K gold and ships in 7 to 10 business days, fully insured, in a jewelry pouch. Resizing is complimentary within 60 days, returns are accepted within 14 days, and every piece carries a lifetime warranty on craftsmanship. Engraved pieces are final sale.
